Away from the herd

I think one of the problems with the introversion/extroversion equation is the value we place on both. And the equation tends to be out of whack. Society values loudness and gregariousness more than solitude and introspection. We place rightness on one and wrongness on the other. In a fast-paced world, where people are scared to stop and look around, you need courage to not run with the pack.

  1. Well said! It takes a lot of courage to not run with the pack. We’re so afraid of being thought boring, unfriendly, odd, etc., but if more people would just be themselves it would probably be a much more sane world. A lot of us may think we have to be loud, hearty, back-slapping, etc., in order to fit some “ideal” we’ve dreamed up.
