A song before sleep

What I like about Sarah McLachlan’s “Possession“…

The night is my companion
And solitude my guide

(Before my current gig, I worked late nights. I loved coming home as the city was sleeping. The quiet fell over the city like a blanket. And solitude is my guide.)

Through this world I’ve stumbled
So many times betrayed
Trying to find an honest word
To find the truth enslaved

(Who hasn’t stumbled, and who hasn’t been betrayed?)

Oh into the sea of waking dreams
I follow without pride
Nothing stands between us here
And I won’t be denied

(Can a more vivid picture be painted in four lines?)
